I spent the next few years after my time in graduate school focusing on teaching, perhaps in a karmic quest to purify my soul.
Remember that I was working on this project during and after the 2016 election. By 2017, the Muslim travel ban was put into effect at US airports; a fair portion of my own graduate cohort were directly affected by these initiatives enacted by the TSA, and DHS more broadly.
